International Seminar: Prof. Dr. Irina R. Katkova from Rusia be a Speaker
Thursday, 24 August 2023, Postgraduate of UIN Raden Intan Lampung held an International Seminar with the theme “Al-Qur’an in the Perspective of Language, Culture, and Archipelago Islamic Studies”. This activity was carried out in the Postgraduate Auditorium Room.
This international seminar was attended by Prof. Dr. Irina R. Katkova from Russia as an International Speaker and attended by Postgraduate Lecturers Students from a number of study programs in Postgraduate.
Prof. Katkova, who was active as a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, St. Petersburg State University, embarked on enlightening journey, unravelling the intricate tapestry of Islamic influence in Southeast Asia. Her multidisciplinary approach, combining history and library science, proved to be captivating lens through which attendees could comprehend the rich Islamic heritage of the region.
Director of Postgraduate Program at UIN RIL, Prof. Dr. Ruslan Abdul Ghofur, M.Si, opened the seminar while giving a speech and Prof. Dr. Hj. Siti Mahmudah, S.Ag., M.Ag was present as the moderator.
“It is an honor for the Postgraduate to have an International Speaker (Prof. Dr. Irina R. Katkova from Russia) to fill in this Seminar and I hope that the participants could take part in this event well and add broader insights from the speaker.” said Prof. Ruslan
In this seminar, Prof. Irina delivered material about the History of Al-Qur’an studying in Russia. In this case, the speaker provided some information starting from the Muslim population in Russia, the translation of the Al-Qur’an in Russia, the collection of the Al-Qur’an in Russia, and examples of fragments of the Al-Qur’an in Kufic script to pray with allusions to the Al-Qur’an written in nasta’liq calligraphy, Isfahan from the album St. Petersburg Murakka’.
After the session of presentation of the material from the speaker was over, it was followed by a discussion and question and answer session. The enthusiasm of the participants was so great that it was marked by the many questions asked to the speaker. This scientific activity could stimulates and broadens the horizons of the lecturers and students and also the form of implementation of the vision of Raden Intan State Islamic University.
